Sun Microsystems med virtuell klient satsning

Nylig annonserte Sun at de har sluppet programvaren Sun Virtual Desktop Infrastructure 2.0, en programvare som fungerer som tilgangsstyrer (”broker”) til virtuelle klienter i VMware virtuell infrastruktur. Sun VDI 2.0 programvaren er et alternativ til VMware sin egne Virtual Desktop Manager 2.0 og Citrix XenDesktop.

New in Sun VDI Software 2.0 is the Sun Virtual Desktop Connector which provides seamless integration with the virtualization layer and makes it easy to control the life cycle of virtual machines and assign users to virtual desktop environments.

Sun VDI 2.0 kan installeres på følgende operativsystem:

• Solaris 10 11/06 SPARC
• Solaris 10 11/06 x86
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS 4 Update 3
• SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 SP3 (x86)
